The Agency for the Competitiveness of the company (ACTION) presents the report 'Smart Cities in Catalonia' , which collects figures and opportunities in the sector.
A smart city or smart city is a city capable of using information and communication technologies (ICT) in order to create better infrastructure for people living in it. From public transport, through energy savings, sustainability or efficiency in all its aspects.
In this context, the companies of the sector are all those that offer smart solutions for the urban management of the city in its different verticals. According to the report 'Smart Cities in Catalonia' the Agency for Competitiveness of the company (ACTION) In Catalonia there are 438 companies of which 52% have more than 10 years of life.
In addition, 90% are SMEs and 89% are concentrated in the Barcelona area. During 2018 , they have turnover of 9,717 million euros, which represents 4% of the Catalan GDP and have given work to 45,046 people.
Proof of this, is the celebration in Barcelona of the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) for 8 years, which represents a unique meeting point for the whole ecosystem of smart cities and has It has become a worldwide reference event under the axes of digital transformation, the environment, mobility, governance and finance, collaboration and inclusion.
