On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which is commemorated next Tuesday, February 11, this February, the city of Girona will once again organize the Week of Women and Girls in Science with a lot of proposals to promote the access and participation of girls, women and girls in science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics. Specifically, the activities will take place between Monday, February 10 and Sunday, February 16. Therefore, on Tuesday, February 11, from 10 am to 12 pm, there will be a job orientation day in the auditorium of the La Mercè Cultural Center, where secondary, high school and vocational training students will be able to spend some time with Girona researchers to promote scientific vocations and break gender stereotypes. Following this, at 7 pm, the film 'El Teorema de Marguerite' about Dr. Mei Calm Puig will be screened at the Truffaut Cinema. On Wednesday, February 12, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., a workshop on creativity and 3D manufacturing technologies will be held at the 3Digital Manufacturing Lab, in the Science and Technology Park of the University of Girona. The experience will mix creativity and innovation with the desire to understand how everything around us is manufactured. On Thursday, February 13, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., there will be a talk with the doctor in art history Lluïsa Faixedas at the Carles Rahola Library. The meeting will focus on bringing the A of STEAM closer and discovering what women have contributed to the history of art. On Friday, February 14, from 3 to 7 p.m., an open day will be held at the Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGI) to get to know the space and the main lines of research of the biomedical research center's research team. On Saturday 15 February, from 10am to 12pm, a morning of board games will be held with researchers and scientists from the University of Girona in La Marfà. Likewise, from 10am to 1pm, a cyanotype workshop will be held to learn how to take photographs without a camera, using only sunlight, while learning about the figure of creative scientist Anna Atkins, at the ERAM - University School of the Arts.
At the same time, from Tuesday 28 January to Tuesday 4 March, the exhibition 'Science DO Girona: our neighbours, our scientists' will be on the streets . The exhibition includes various professional trajectories of women from the city of Girona and brings different fields of scientific research closer to the public. Similarly, from Monday 10 February to Sunday 16 February, the municipal radio station Girona FM will broadcast a special programme on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science: on Monday 10 February at 9.45 am on 'El primer cafè', on Tuesday 11 February at 11.05 am on 'Els 4 Rius', on Thursday 13 February at 11.05 am on 'Els 4 Rius' and on Friday 14 February at 10.05 am on 'Girona a fons'.
