The second virtual meeting of the Punt TIC Network in 2026 will focus on how video games can become a powerful educational tool. The new online session will take place next Tuesday, February 24, from 12 to 1:30 p.m., and will be aimed at the facilitators and managing entities of the Punt TIC Network. Specifically, the new virtual meeting of the Punt TIC Network will feature the participation of Kevin Marín Rubio, predoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Education of the University of Barcelona. Trained as a teacher and professor, with studies in philosophy, his work in formal education, informal education and cultural dynamization has always been closely linked to critical pedagogy and the promotion of reflection on structures.
Marín will present his research on the video game club 'Play Utopia' that takes place in the Casal de Barri Besòs in Barcelona and that began its journey in 2023 with the support of the Taula Jove and the neighborhood's youth development services. The proposal has a double objective: to enrich the range of works that young people play and to work on critical awareness. With this desire, the club allows for play and dialogue, as well as exploring how video games can invite us to rethink the world and imagine desirable futures, addressing issues such as, for example, class awareness, gender, migration or the climate emergency. Marín will share this initiative and briefly outline other initiatives that are being carried out in different territories and that relate video games to the educational field. Finally, a space for questions and exchange will be opened with the aim of establishing possible spaces for shared collaboration.
