Developed within the framework of the European project Digital Innovation Hub of Catalonia, with the support of Àrees Digitals and with the funding of the Department of the Presidency of the Generalitat of Catalonia, next year, the Punt Òmnia of La Seu d'Urgell will participate in a pilot project that will allow remote medical monitoring. Previously, during the months of January to May, the staff of the i2CAT research center, with the collaboration of the Saltó Group, will develop a digital telemedicine system to facilitate the monitoring of the medication intake of people with chronic diseases who live and reside in rural areas of the Alt Pirineu.
The pilot project will seek to identify the detection of anomalies in the medication intake of people with chronic diseases who do not have family or external support in order to avoid a decompensation of their health problems while ensuring that they continue to live in their homes with the maximum possible autonomy. The digital system will be based on the combined use of advanced digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) and will allow remote monitoring of patients including the detection of irregularities in treatment adherence, combined vital signs or anomalous changes in speech. It will also incorporate solutions to reduce the waste of medicines. Therefore, during the months of May to June, the system will be tested with real patients in collaboration with the basic health areas of La Seu d'Urgell and Alt Urgell Sud. These two areas have a population of more than 20,000 inhabitants and represent 30% of the total population of the entire region. Therefore, the Punt Òmnia of La Seu d'Urgell and other health facilities and spaces in the territory will collaborate in the execution of the pilot project.
