Last Thursday, October 10, the Secretariat of Digital Policies of the Generalitat of Catalonia organized the awards ceremony for the tenth edition of the DonaTIC Awards in La Paloma. In this sense, after 10 editions and 777 nominations, the DonaTIC Awards have established themselves as a reference award in the recognition of the fundamental role of women in the technological fields, as well as in the visibility of new contemporary female references in Catalonia. Specifically, the tenth edition of the DonaTIC Awards of the Secretariat of Digital Policies awarded two leading initiatives and twelve women technologists.
From the Punt TIC Network, we wanted to share a little time with Roser Roca Tohà, awarded in the Professional category, Elisabeth Tremps Tor, awarded in the Disclosure category, and Irene Unceta, awarded in the category DonaTIC Revelation, to learn first hand their trajectories, experiences and reflections. "For me, the DonaTIC Award means responsibility, because, although it is a recognition of my professional career, I assume the commitment to be a reference woman for the new generations of women who want to enter the world of technology », explains Roca. "I think that sometimes there's a bit of a feeling that technical careers don't have an impact on society and then, once you're inside, you discover that it's the complete opposite. Science, technology or engineering, for example, have a lot of impact and can also be very creative and very innovative professions", adds Tremps. "When a young person chooses a career or thinks about his professional future, an aspiration component comes into play. You want to be like someone, you want to look like someone. For this reason, reference women are very important. If all the references you know are men, it is very difficult for you to project yourself into these people. Also, it would be important for these women to be close and accessible", points out Unceta.
