The open innovation competition SmartCatalonia Challenge promoted by the Department of Digital Policies of the Generalitat is celebrating its twelfth edition with the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia.

This year, the three challenges raise solutions based on NewSpace earth observation technology . From all the proposals, ten finalists will be chosen who, after defending their idea in front of a jury, will win one of the edition's three prizes.

What are the challenges?

  • Challenge 1 : Improve the study of the Catalan coastline using Earth observation technology.
  • Challenge 2 : Evaluation and control of the impact of disasters on agricultural production using Earth observation technology.
  • Challenge 3 : Monitoring and control of drought in pastures using Earth observation technology.

What are the prizes?

  • Prize for the best solution of Challenge 1 : €15,000 destined to carry out a pilot test with the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia + present the proposal in the framework of the Smart City Expo World Congress.
  • Prize for the best solution of Challenge 2 : €15,000 intended to carry out a pilot test with the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia + present the proposal in the framework of the Smart City Expo World Congress.
  • Prize for the best solution of Challenge 3 : €15,000 to carry out a pilot test with the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia + present the proposal in the framework of the Smart City Expo World Congress.
