The Solidarity Economy Network of Catalonia - Sant Andreu , with the collaboration of the Sant Andreu District of the Barcelona City Council , will promote the talk 'Artificial Intelligence and Colonial Relations'. The event will take place next Tuesday, October 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Can XES facilities, at the Fabra i Coats Complex, located at Carrer de Sant Adrià, number 20, in the city of Barcelona. Led by Víctor Jiménez Sánchez, co-founder of the BitLab cooperative, it will analyze how artificial intelligence influences colonial relations between the North and the South. Among other things, it will discuss data and resource extraction, the invisible work behind digital systems, algorithmic biases, the concentration of technological power in large corporations and the social, political and environmental impacts. The aim of the talk will be to encourage a critical perspective and open a space for debate to imagine more just, communitarian and decolonial alternatives. The event will be part of the 'Tardor Solidària' cycle, which in the coming months will invite people to reflect on how the way we live and build our neighborhood and city affects the present and determines the future.
The talk will discuss data and resource extraction, the invisible work behind digital systems, algorithmic biases, the concentration of power and the social, political and environmental impacts.
