The meeting will focus on the current state of the Internet and the way we interact through conferences, talks, actions and screenings by various artists and researchers on April 3 and 4 in Barcelona.

On April 3 and 4, the Santa Monica Arts Center and Hangar will host the conference 'Internet Core. Aesthetics of Digital Disaster'. The meeting will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. and will focus, through conferences, talks, actions and screenings by various artists and researchers, on the current state of the Internet, the way we relate within digital infrastructures and the challenges of the future. The 'core' label emerges on the Internet on platforms such as TikTok and Tumblr and is part of the 'aesthetic' trend with a firm commitment to urgent global concerns. In this sense, the term 'Internet Core' would be the condition where art defends a specific aesthetic as a form of anti-capitalist criticism and resistance to the system and encourages a digital artistic exodus to smaller visual communities such as, for example, Mastodon, Signal, Telegram, Discord or Substrack, marking a divergence from the previous era that was driven by influencers and a wider public exposure. The congress will feature the participation of professionals such as researcher Diana Millán, journalist Blanca Martínez, researcher Bani Brusadin, musician Daniel Moreno Roldán, anthropologist Ezequiel Soriano Gómez, analyst Geert Lovink and the Proyecto Una collective.
