Next Saturday, May 17, Internet Day will be commemorated. In this context, the Cybersecurity Agency of Catalonia has recently shared several informative materials about the unreachable digital world. Specifically, the Cybersecurity Agency of Catalonia has talked about the digital footprint, that is, the data trail that users leave on the Internet and that includes everything from the devices they use to the websites they visit. When you browse, post on social networks or send an email, you are building a digital footprint. Sadly, this digital footprint can become permanent and can determine a person's digital reputation, since when all this data is public, you no longer have control and monitoring over how other people may end up using it.

Given this reality, the Cybersecurity Agency of Catalonia has put forward a series of recommendations with the aim of protecting privacy and preventing unfortunate situations. First, it is advisable to request the removal of personal data from websites where you do not want it to appear and to delete the information stored in the browser in the form of cookies, cache or history. It is also recommended to monitor sharing on social networks and close old accounts that are not used. Finally, it is advisable to deactivate the location function of devices, configure the privacy of social networks to limit who can see the publications and protect personal data and medical data. Finally, it is necessary to remember that everyone has the right to be forgotten, that is, to obtain the deletion of personal data that affects them and prevent their dissemination on the Internet, as long as it is within the limits established by law and regulation.
