On the fourth Thursday of April, the International Day of Girls in ICT is celebrated annually. The day seeks to encourage technological vocations among girls and women in the territory, eradicate the gender gap and give visibility to new leading women. This year, from the Xarxa Punt TIC, we want to contribute by making visible reference cheerleaders for future generations. Today, we have Sahar Fátima Syed Shahzadi, student of the Higher Degree Training Course in Multiplatform Application Development and winner of the eighth edition of the DonaTIC Awards in the category 'IT Student Professional Training'.
1. How did your technological vocation come about?
Since childhood, I have had a great fascination with technology. I was enthralled to spend hours with my electronic devices, exploring how they worked and analyzing what was behind their screens. I think it was this initial curiosity that led me directly into the world of technology.
2. What has been your career?
My passion for technology was confirmed pretty much from my first computer class in high school. From there, I decided to focus my studies in the areas of technology and science. After ESO, I took the Baccalaureate in science and technology and then continued my studies with a higher degree training course in computer science. In the first year of my degree, I started working in the technological field and I could say that, for the past three years, I have been working professionally in what I am most passionate about.
3. What are your professional goals?
I would like to continue to develop my career at my current company and possibly pursue university studies in computer engineering. In five years, for example, I would like to create mobile applications that provide meaningful solutions for people, and especially for the most vulnerable.
4. Who have been your reference women?
I have had the good fortune to be inspired by several professors in the technological field, who have accompanied me deeply throughout my career. The passion for technology, the dedication and the drive of these women have encouraged me to pursue my goals and dive fully into this professional field.
5. How would you encourage a girl or a girl to go into the technological field?
To encourage girls and boys to discover the technological field, I would suggest exploring the vast world of technological products and technological applications. I believe that technology is the future, and there is a constant need for innovative people who can create solutions to emerging challenges.
