At the beginning of February, the city of Girona will vibrate with the new edition of Women and Girls in Science Week. From February 5 to 11, more than a dozen activities will highlight the local talent of women in the field of science and technology and encourage girls to enter into environments technological The proposals will be organized on the occasion of the Day of Women and Girls in Science, which is commemorated internationally on Sunday 11 February. Therefore, the Ajuntament de Girona, with the support of entities and organizations, has scheduled round tables, presentations, workshops, talks, open days and many other activities in various areas of the city. More specifically, on Monday 5 February, from 6 to 7.30 p.m., at the La Mercè Cultural Center, the round table 'Women's entrepreneurship in the STEAM field' will be held, where several female entrepreneurs in this area will claim the talent of women for the consolidation of companies and will value female talent. The following day, Tuesday, February 6, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the La Mercè Cultural Center, the day 'STEAM betting on the future' will be organized with two presentations on the invisibility that women have historically suffered in technological environments, with the presentation of the exhibition 'Dones en (re)cerca' and with a round table on the job opportunities offered by these sectors for students in 3rd and 4th ESO, high school and professional training. On Wednesday, February 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Pla de Palau Civic Center, scientific and mathematical games, constructions and structures and other pedagogical educational resources will be invigorated to promote STEAM learning for boys and girls from 7 to 12 years in charge of Enginy-era. On Thursday, February 8, at 7 p.m., at Cinema Truffaut, the film 'Madame Curie' by Marjane Satrapi will be screened about the scientist who developed the theory of radioactivity and the discovery of radium and polonium. The following day, Friday February 9, from 3 to 7 p.m., an open day will be offered at the Institut d’Investigació Biomèdica de Girona (IDIBGI). On Saturday February 10, at 10:30 a.m., at the Ernest Lluch Library, there will be a Story Time session with three stories to promote freedom, respect and gender equality for children from 3 to 12 years, from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., in La Marfà, scientific and mathematical games, constructions and structures and other pedagogical educational resources will be dynamized to promote STEAM learning for boys and girls from 7 to 12 years old by Enginy-era, and, at 12 o'clock, at the Ernest Lluch Library, the talk 'It's the microbiota!' by Neus Elcacho.

Along these lines, from Tuesday 6 February to Tuesday 27 February, you can enjoy the exhibition 'Dones en (re)cerca' in the streets of the city of Girona with the participation of several neighboring researchers who will make visible and recognize the role and the contributions of women scientists in the territory. Also, from Monday 5 February to Thursday 29 February, the Libraries of Girona will dedicate spaces with collections of books and audiovisual materials to make visible the contributions of women in the field and promote technological vocations.
