On Tuesday, July 1, the Cercle Tecnològic de Catalunya, with the support of the Secretariat of Digital Policies and the Secretariat of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the Barcelona City Council, presented the results of the Barometer of the Technological Sector 2025, the reference tool for studying the technological and digital fields of Catalonia, at the CosmoCaixa facilities in the city of Barcelona. The event began with the institutional welcome by Albert Tort, Secretary of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation of the Generalitat of Catalonia, and Raquel Gil, Fifth Deputy Mayor of Barcelona City Council. Afterwards, Jordi Meya, Head of Talent and Knowledge of the Technology Circle of Catalonia, presented the results of the Barometer of the Technological Sector 2025. "The technology sector doubles its added value and reaches almost 10 billion euros, consolidating itself as the economic engine of Catalonia. In the period 2008-2024, the average annual growth rate of the technology sector has been 4.6%, well above the evolution recorded by the Catalan economy as a whole, which has been 1%. The trend consolidates the relevance of the technology industry within the economic fabric of Catalonia. However, the technology sector closed the last quarter of 2024 with 1,811 unfilled vacancies, a figure that highlights one of the main challenges: the lack of talent, the report states.

During the second part of the event, a round table reflected on cybersecurity and the impact of artificial intelligence led by Laura Caballero, general director of the Cybersecurity Agency of Catalonia, Roger Sales, head of the virtual police region of the Mossos d'Esquadra, Yolima Cossio, director of digital strategy and data at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, and Selva Orejón, a judicial expert specializing in cybersecurity and CEO of OnBranding. The event ended with the institutional closing by Joan Ramon Barrera, president of the Cercle Tecnològic de Catalunya, who highlighted the role of the technology sector. The presentation of the Barometer of the Technological Sector 2025 was moderated by journalist Pere Mas, live illustrations by illustrator Javi Royo and the surprising artistic experience of pianist Carles Marigó using artificial intelligence tools within the framework of the groundbreaking project Artificia.
