Together with the Safe Internet program, the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya joins the European Month of Cybersecurity, an annual campaign dedicated to promoting cyber security among citizens and European organizations. During the four weeks of October, the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya is raising awareness through social networks around four key themes: the update of Edge, Safari, Firefox and Chrome browsers, ransomware, phishing and data theft.

Specifically, the second week of October, the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya spoke about the dangers of ransomware, a type of malicious program that restricts access to certain parts or files of the operating system and demands a ransom in return to remove the restriction. In this sense, he shared advice and strategies to avoid the possible effects of a specific attack: 'Protect yourself against malicious software', 'Update operating systems and programs', 'The 3-2- rule 1 in cyber security', '8 tips to protect corporate networks' and 'The need to change passwords regularly'.

The following week, it will focus on phishing, a technique to steal confidential information from the public.
