The Bofill Foundation will organize a talk about digital racism, how it manifests itself in education and what challenges need to be faced to guarantee a fairer digital future. The meeting will take place next Monday, March 24, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Social Hub facilities, located at Carrer Girona, number 34, in the city of Barcelona. In this sense, digital racism affects digital rights and education in dimensions such as, for example, the imbalance of access to quality digital opportunities, the biases embedded in digital systems applied to learning or the negative impact on the most vulnerable students. The meeting will combine a more international perspective from the expert Ruha Benjamin with more local experiences and will seek to devise new policies, strategies and programs to address the role of digital technologies, educational centers, families, children, adolescents and young people. The session will begin with a round table discussion and reflections on the importance of talking about digital racism led by experts Núria Vallès-Peris, Núria Sabaté, Mohamed El Amrani, Judith Membrives and Héctor Gardó. This will be followed by a presentation of some proposals from the ecosystem. This will be followed by a conversation between Ruha Benjamin, a specialist in African American studies at Princeton University, and Liliana Arroyo, a doctorate in sociology and specialist in digital social innovation. Finally, a space for exchange will be opened.
