The aim will be to promote and recognize the talent, presence and leadership of women in information and communication technologies in Catalonia and to inspire new professional vocations.

Organized by the i2CAT Foundation and Secartys, next Thursday 21 November, the Smartcentre TIC Point in Santa Bárbara will host the 'DonaTIC Day' in Terres de l'Ebre. In this regard, the event will take place from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm at the facilities of the TIC Point, which are located at Carrer Mare de Déu de Montserrat, number 28, in the town of Santa Bárbara. First of all, there will be an institutional welcome by Ana Maria Panisello, councilor for new technologies at the Santa Bárbara City Council. Then, Mercè Fort, facilitator of the TIC Point, will present the Santa Bárbara Smartcentre and the TIC Necessary, one of the latest initiatives promoted by the TIC Point to deal with and make visible violence against women.

Along these lines, Eva Gómez, digital social innovation manager of the i2CAT Foundation, will present the 'Cicle DonaTIC'. Next, the talk on technologies and research for a more efficient and resilient rice to climate change will be offered by biotechnology graduate Karen Martí Jerez and physics graduate Judit Cid Giménez. Afterwards, there will be activities distributed in four work tables. So, the first working table will focus on the genetic diversity of rice: key to sustainability and agricultural resilience, the second table will focus on salinity and water management in the cultivation of rice, the third working table will focus on biodiversity and the fourth table will focus on remote sensing and new technologies.

In addition to the Smartcentre in Santa Bárbara, the activity will take place simultaneously in two other spaces: the Fab Lab TE in Amposta and the CoEbreLab in Móra d'Ebre. The 'DonaTIC Day' in Terres de l'Ebre is part of the 'DonaTIC Cycle' which is part of the DonaTIC Plan promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya, through the Secretariat of Digital Policies, with the aim of promoting and to recognize the talent, presence and leadership of women in information and communication technologies in Catalonia, as well as with the desire to strengthen the network of professional women in the Catalan technology sector, to give visibility to leading women in advanced digital technologies and inspire new professional vocations among children and boys and girls.
