With the aim of promoting fair, inclusive and respectful technologies with people's rights and guaranteeing artificial intelligence at the service of the common good, the Barcelona Open Data Initiative will promote the conference 'Open data in times of artificial intelligence'. The event will take place next Monday, September 29, at 6 p.m., at the Espai Francesca Bonnemaison facilities, located at Carrer Sant Pere Més Baix, number 7, in the city of Barcelona. The objective of the meeting will be to influence the functioning of artificial intelligence and give importance to the current moment, where artificial intelligence is influencing diverse areas such as health, education, housing and social policies. The meeting will be a space to reflect and debate on the essential role of public open data in building technologies with a social perspective, on the right of people to access and reuse data in times of automation and on how to prevent artificial intelligence from reproducing inequalities and limiting rights. At this point, the Barcelona Open Data Initiative defends that public open data is the guarantee that automated systems are built on transparent, quality and representative information. The Barcelona Open Data Initiative adds that without open data, biases can occur, groups can become invisible and decisions can be generated that are considerably opaque.
