A total of 268 centers (162 of which are telecentres and 106 Òmnia) will be equipped with new equipment, which will replace the obsolete one or will be used to increase the hardware that the Punt TIC offers participants. The goal is to replace old computers for new ones, which will benefit from a technical service provided by the Generalitat in case of an incident (helpdesk). The managing entities of some spaces have, however, decided to retain the old PCs with the condition of assuming their maintenance from now on. Likewise, they undertake to proceed to the scrapping and deposit in a Green Point of the machines once they stop working.

The technical characteristics of the equipment that will be installed are:

  • All-In-One computers, Lenovo ThinkCentre M810z model
  • Power source, HP Aruba AP-207 802.11ac model
  • 24-port switch HPE 1920S 24G 2SFP model
  • Based on Free Software

In the case of the Secretariat of Telecommunications, CyberSecurity and the Digital Society, the selection of the beneficiaries of this campaign and the number of machines to be installed in each one has been decided based on criteria such as: state of the center equipment; the activity that this one develops and the impact that it has; the projects in which it participates, paying particular attention to the evolution towards digital social innovation; the number of users; the existence or not of dynamic staff; The commitment to allocate all or part of the new hardware to new projects and services; the capacity of the Punt TIC to adapt its services and facilities to the new needs of the users and the territory; and the interaction with other actors in the environment.

The renovation will entail the provision of the following services:

  • Installation and configuration of the hardware.
  • Help desk maintenance service.
  • Computer layout every 18 months.
  • Training in relation to the new equipment and on the benefits and obligations of belonging to the Punt TIC Network.
  • Renewed ICT Point equipment registration.
  • Withdrawal and disposal of old equipment and issuance of certificate.

Before proceeding with the installation of computers, a pilot test has been carried out at three telecentres, to test the procedure and solve possible incidents before extending it to other telecentres and libraries. The centers chosen for this pilot during the month of April were the following: Espai Jove Torre Bassas from Rubí; Punt TIC de Palau-solità i Plegamans; and Punt TIC de Sant Martí de Provençals, in Barcelona.

Finally, these changes will be accompanied by training sessions and workshops with the promoters, in order to accompany them in a more intensive use of the new hardware, as well as in new training actions for citizens related to new possibilities that will offer the renovation.
